Sweet Cheeks' Craniosynostosis Update

We are coming upon ten weeks since Sweet Cheeks has had his surgery and I have noticed a great improvement. His head is by no means perfect but is perfect to me :) His hair grew back to what he had before surgery- I was so sad to see it all cut off it took so long to get any. He has rounded out and is supposed to look much better as his head grows. We will go back in July to see his surgeon for a check up. This is a pictorial of his journey up until now.
we loved him passionately no matter what!
Before surgery:
very aerodynamic!
day before surgery
became more oval as he grew
few weeks old- notice bump in back
bump grew as he did
look at those cheeks
last day at hospital
During 10 day hospital stay:

we loved all the nurses at Cardinal Glennon! Always managed a smile for us no matter how much pain :)
very swollen day after surgery
right after surgery, right before surgery, and without bandages
Daddy checks me out
2 week checkup with our favorite dr

After surgery- 10 weeks out:
front of head is still bulbous
still smilin
head is a lil bumpy still
much more round and less oval
bump is totally gone!
hopefully everything will cont to improve

We are thanking God every day for our little boy! He is soooo sweet and such a precious blessing!! Our family would not be the same without him! We love you Sweet Cheeks!!!!
Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name ... 1 Chron 29:13

Sew Season

I have been working on several items to sell in my shop plus a few custom items that have been ordered and thought I would share. I am making three animal print pillowcases- two that were custom ordered one zebra with pink trim and one cheetah with purple trim and the third one is to sell and it says Miss Priss on it in zebra and pink to sell on Etsy. I am also trying to get some outfits together to put in my store with the really cute ruffle pants. I love these pants in all different styles! I am using Pink Fig patterns- her designs are sooo very cute! Check out her link in my favorite links.

Hopefully Sweet Cheeks will get to feeling better (he has a runny nose and slight fever) so I don't have to hold him constantly and the rest of the kids will cooperate with me tomorrow so I can get some stress relief through sewing. It has got to come out somehow ;) No bad weather again til Saturday :) so tomorrow I plan on enjoying the sunny day :) I hope you enjoy yours, too!

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks,
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

More Bad Weather?!?!?!

Man we have been having bad weather for the past week strait!! We have been under tornado and flash flood warnings almost constantly. Thankfully our basement has not flooded (yet) but many others in our area have. My grandma's is one of them who lives two doors down from us. This weather is stressing me out. We have been keeping the kids in the basement all the time. I wonder every time I hear the wind blow if it is a tornado. This is NOT fun! Please pray for our family and the many others around this area who have been flooded and we aren't done with the rains yet. Off to the basement I go because the tornado weather will be here in a few minutes... never been through anything like this!

Resurrection Rolls, Easter Nests, and Egg Coloring

For breakfast this morning we made Resurrection Rolls. These are really yummy and easy to make.

First you get out the ingredients: crescent rolls, marshmallows, butter, and cinnamon sugar.
Then you melt the butter. Open the crescent rolls and give each kid one triangle. The marshmallows represent Jesus- give each kid one. Dip your "Jesus" into the oils and spices (the butter and cinnamon) his body was prepared in to be buried.

Make sure your marshmallows aren't all eaten by Cap'n Skunkbeard before you can use them ;)  Next, take his body and put it into the tomb (crescent roll) and seal the tomb tightly. If you don't seal all the holes well Jesus may not be resurrected!!

Cook the rolls for 11 minutes
When they are cool let the kids open them to find that Jesus has disappeared! Tell the story of his resurrection or read it out of the Bible while you enjoy your snack.

Later we colored eggs with my cousin's kids.
Busy little bees seeing how many they can color.

Hoss likes orange, especially on his hands!
Tenderheart is always the careful one.

How pretty!

Finally, to top it off we made delicious chocolate bird nests. To make the nests we used semi sweet chocolate, shredded wheat, and robins eggs.
First you melt the chocolate (8 bars) with 2 tbsp of Crisco at one minute intervals until all creamy. Then you add the broke up shredded wheat until it is all covered with chocolate. Next, you dip out the nest mixture onto wax paper and shape it into a nest shape.

Add your eggs and let it dry. Wallah, you have a cute little birds nest for a treat later!! (You can also use Rice Krispies- the fruity ones with white chocolate are really cute!)

The kids love their creations!!
We had soo much fun spending time together learning about Jesus and crafting. I hope you all have just as much fun!! Now I am off to finish sewing Darlings dress for tomorrow- nothing like last minute!!
